Welcome to My Personal Page
I've been a Big Sister to Abby for over four years. She's now 16 and has truly become like a sister to me. I love our time spent together and there are no words to describe how happy I am to see the impact I have made on her life. Thanks to fundraising contributions from people like yourself, matches like me and Abby are possible.
In addition to being a Big, I am now a member of the Young Professionals for Mentoring (YP4M) board. I am volunteering at the Stiletto Sprint fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire (BBBSNH) this year, because I am committed to helping children facing adversity succeed in school and in life.
Last year, close to 1100 children participated in the community-based and site-based programs. 37% of these children lived in households earning less than $25,000 while 63% lived in single parent households. 17% have suffered some form of abuse and 18% had at least one parent who has been incarcerated. Mentors work individually with children to overcome these challenges by actively promoting self-sufficiency and academic achievement.
In spite of these major risk factors, the impact of BBBSNH mentoring programs is big. Children in these programs achieve academic success and are less likely to engage in risky behaviors. They have greater aspirations as a result of having an additional caring, supportive adult in their lives and they form better relationships while increasing their self-confidence.
I am proud to support Big Brothers Big Sisters, which believes that all kids have value and the ability to succeed, regardless of their circumstances. Thank you for giving generously to support this life-changing program!
